We were in Greenville this weekend, celebration the 80th birthday of the Shriners Hospital.
At the Luncheon on Friday, this young man presented the hospital a check for $7000.00. He wanted to help raise $ for the handicap playground. He ask churches, individuals, and companies. He got the whole community involved. Doesn't this make your heart feel good. We had many more presentation and at the end of the weekend it was announced that $186,000.00 of the 200,000.00 needed was raised.
This hospital was open to the public and everyone was welcomed. There was tours, face painting, cotton candy, popcorn, balloons, birthday cake, luncheons, Fish Fry's, banquets and smiling faces. Our clown unit clowned out and entertained the children. These ladies worked hard. I got to see the mural our group painted on the wall of one of the cast rooms. We toured parts of the hospitals not normally shown. But it was opened for this special weekend. Doctors and nurses explained to us the importance of each room and it's function. It is impressive that children only stay a few days after surgery now, not long ago they would stay weeks or months. Technology is remarkable.
